Assistant General Manager at The West Sussex Golf Club, photographer, storyteller, golfer and custodian of modern club culture, Alex represents a generation increasingly redefining what it means to belong within the game. His story is not one built solely upon handicap indexes or competitive success, but upon something perhaps a lot more enduring: connection.
“Golf means far more to me than simply a sport,” Says Alex. “It’s a place of connection, creativity, purpose and shared experience.”
That sentiment becomes immediately believable when listening to him speak. For Alex, golf is not transactional. It is relational. The game is interwoven with family memory, faith, friendship and vocation. It is the backdrop to life’s meaningful moments rather than simply a recreational pursuit.
Growing up, golf occupied a central role within his family life. Years later, that continuity remains intact as he now shares the game with his wife and daughter. “It forever offers moments of reflection and appreciation (he explains) for the beauty of golf courses and the game itself. Above all, golf has been a meaningful outlet throughout many seasons of my life, providing a way to enjoy, create, encourage, and connect with others”
It is perhaps no surprise, then, that Alex eventually found himself professionally immersed in the industry he always suspected would satisfy him most. Yet the route there was not immediate.
